Just be consistent when you compare packages. So you also have to factor in which temp sensor you want to base your fan speed on, if that's the way you want to go.
#ARGUS MONITOR CPU FAN SOFTWARE#
The asus also has more temp sensors than you can shake a stick of ram at, including a 'cpu socket' sensor and the intel software per cpu temp. You'd have to log the outputs, import to a spreadsheet and compare graphs there. One thing to be careful of is to run just one package at a time, because they WILL interact with each other, so you can't really put their graphs side-by-side to compare. It also tracks hd temps and monitors smart.
#ARGUS MONITOR CPU FAN MANUAL#
Argus doesn't do the autotune that ai suite may do (if you can get it to run), but it will control all 4 of the case fans and 2 cpu fans based on a sensor temp, manual curve or bios controlled. I found Argus Monitor, and the author, after running some extra software to debug the way the different chips monitor the board, modified his package to run on my asus. One problem with 3rd party software are the chips the motherboard may use use, my asus uses 2 separate chips. No big deal, I like everything else about my Hero and Maximus boards but it is just a nuisance.I have an asus z97 sabertooth mark2, Ai suite 3 just never ran well for me, it couldn't find the gifs for the fans. I hope it's something Asus can look into with future Bios updates, but it seems a little unlikely if I've had the same issue across two different gens.
#ARGUS MONITOR CPU FAN HOW TO#
I will however look into Argus monitor! I tried speedfan but just could not figure out how to setup fan profiles so gave up. I can get used to a loud fan setting after a while, it just becomes white noise to me. I'll probably end up just setting a constant fan speed, as it's not the fan loudness that annoys me, but the change in speed and sound. Using the program is very easy, you only ave to run it and you'll view the temperature. It will help you because thanks to it you will be able to know the temperature of important elements like the CPU, GPU and Hard Disks. Thanks for linking that thread, basically exactly that issue. Argus Monitor is a lite tool that will help you keep your computer on fit. These are the best programs for a smooth fan control. If it is not good enough for use, then you should use Speedfan or Argusmonitor for fan control. I have set the CPU fan to accelerate at 47☌ CPU Temp, so there are only a few ramp ups.

Well it was discussed almost in this thread I really want to avoid using AIsuite, but has anyone had any luck using that for fan settings? I know it's not a particularly big deal, and in the past I have just set a level fan setting across all temps, but having my computer on my desk it can get annoying having a symphony of fans going off under light to no load.Īpologies if this has been asked and answered before, but I tried searching "q-fan", "step up time" and got an error saying the words were too short.* Is this behaviour that others have had/are having with their Maximus boards? FWIW I have 2x Noctua AF-15 PWM CPU fans.

It is definitely the CPU fan spinning up and down instantaneously. My case fans are virtually silent at my q-fan settings, hence the 0s step up, coupled with the fact the lowest step setting is 25s for case fans. With chrome only taking less than a second to load, obviously my step up/step down settings are not being followed. opening chrome will result in an instant boost in fan speed and than an immediate decrease once it's loaded. I have my CPU set to 3.6s step up and 12s step down, case fans at 0s step up and 25s step down, but my CPU fans still ramp up and down instantly eg. I've now had two maximus boards, an 8 ranger and X hero, and both have never followed my fan step up and step down bios settings.
